Path vs LinkedIn

This isn’t really a versus. LinkedIn is a network; Path is your own site. The question is which page you want to be the front door for your name.

Keep LinkedIn. Stop making it your homepage.

LinkedIn is where recruiters search, message, and post jobs — Path doesn’t replace that, and you should keep your profile there. What Path replaces is the habit of using a rented profile page as your primary presence on the web.

On your LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn decides the layout, inserts a login wall for many visitors, and shows a “People also viewed” sidebar — literally a list of other candidates — next to your work. On a Path page there is nothing but you: no feed, no ads, no competitors in the margin. We think that's how a personal page should work (Own your profile is the longer argument).

One layout for a billion people

Every LinkedIn profile looks the same. Path has 18 layouts plus your own colors, fonts, and header styles — a designer's profile can look like a portfolio, an engineer's like a terminal, a writer's like an essay. On Pro you can serve it from your own domain, so the URL on your resume is yours, not linkedin.com/in/.

Your Path profile links back to LinkedIn (and GitHub, and anywhere else) and emits that relationship as structured data, which helps search engines understand the pages are the same person. Details in How to control what shows up when someone Googles your name.

When LinkedIn is the better choice

For the network itself: recruiter InMail, job applications, warm intros, and company pages live on LinkedIn, and no personal site substitutes for that graph. If you only have energy for one profile and you’re actively applying through LinkedIn’s pipeline, keep that one polished first.

The short version

Use LinkedIn to network. Use Path as the page you actually send people to — and the one Google shows for your name.
