# Joe Bentley

**Design / Animation**

My design career started at Targetfollow, producing brochures and advertisements for print. Back then, Flash dominated the web, but when Google pushed the industry towards HTML-based websites, I saw an opportunity to learn something new. That shift sparked my interest in website design and user interfaces, setting me on a path that has since grown to include web design, animation, motion graphics, infographics, and digital experiences.

Examples of work done

### Beat It Cancer

Following the loss of a close friend and DJ, Damion Burbank, to cancer, I founded Beat It Cancer, a Community Interest Company created to raise awareness and support for cancer research. Working in partnership with Cancer Research UK, I designed and developed the organisation's branding, website, created and managed its social media presence, and built an online community through content and music-focused platforms such as Mixcloud. I also secured venues for fundraising and promotional events and successfully brought renowned DJ Ashley Beedle on board to host an event. Unfortunately, the project was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the venue secured for the flagship event was forced to close, bringing the initiative to an early end. Despite this, the experience demonstrated my ability to lead community projects, build partnerships, organise events, and create engaging digital campaigns for a meaningful cause.

The project remains close to my heart, and I am currently exploring plans to relaunch it as a registered charity. This ambition has become even more important to me after seeing my partner successfully navigate breast cancer treatment, reinforcing my commitment to supporting cancer research, raising awareness, and helping others affected by the disease.
